Moving to Canada (2)

This is one out of three blog posts I’ve planned for my immigration to Canada. This post will primarily be about my dog Yumi and how he relocated to Canada with us. Yumi was born September 8th 2015 - by the time we travelled he was close to his 2nd birthday. We did plenty of research to make sure that his immigration went as smooth as possible. First, we had to organize a properly sized transport box for the flight, and secondly comply with the Canadian dog import regulations. Read more

Moving to Canada (1)

As mentioned earlier 2017 will be a hectic year - I’m looking forward to immigrating to Canada. I’ll be relocating to Vancouver, British Columbia, to start working at Amazon. Living abroad and working at one of the big five tech companies (Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook) have been two of my goals for a long time, and both will be reality end of August. I can’t articulate how excited I am - it’s a huge opportunity to growth for me, and it puts me well outside of my comfort zone. Read more

Moving Forward

Everything changes and nothing stands still. Heraclitus And 2017 will be quite a hectic year for me because of this. I’m looking forward to sharing more non-technical things in the next few months, too. Mostly pictures I guess, but we’ll see what I’ll find interesting enough to share (:

Cheers to 2016

2015 was a turbulent year for me: I switched jobs twice, moved closer to Hamburg, lost a great companion and won a new one. Guessing from the past two months 2016 will be a turbulent year as well, because I’ll have to help Yumi become the awesome border colli he’s supposed to be. So cheers to a great 2016. Cheers to new challenges and new adventures.

new opportunities in life

As of today I’m no longer an employee at weluse GmbH. It was a fun time but like all fun times it’s time for a change. After deciding to apply for a position as software developer at mindmatters I’m really happy to announce that I’ll be joining them starting December 2013. That’s like next week ;) Aside from being a little nervous because of, well, change I’m also extremly happy that I’ll be joining a team of highly skilled people, working on interesting and demanding projects. NVidia keeps crashing my system.

Approximately two months ago my 42 months old Mac Book Pro started randomly crashing on me. According to the stack trace the GPU driver was at fault. At first I ignored the problem because it only happened once a day, but slowly the frequency increased to 3+ times a day. Sometimes in quick succession. And it’s hard to work that way. I consulted the mighty google just to find out that the NVidia GT 330M used in my mid 2010 Mac Book Pro is known to be faulty. Read more

A note about the past

To enjoy the memories of life is to live twice Marcus Aurelius Looking back at my past I can’t help smiling. All my decisions, good and bad, have helped me to become who I am now. Because of those decisions I now have these memories I value so much. What a great gift life is.

a Review of 2012

Today 2012 ends. Time to review the past year. This is just a short list of things I found most important in my life: on September 6th I’ve married Katharina Bauer. She is by far the most important person in my life. I can talk to her about anything and everything. She’s always helping me out in some kind, and I’m really lucky to have her as my wife. Thanks for the great time, Katharina - and thanks for your support. Read more
